Viaplay Cup Group Stage Draw 2023/24
The Lions will kick off the 2023/24 campaign with a trip to Highland League champions Brechin City in our Viaplay Cup group stage opener.
Trips to Brechin and Cove mean that we’ll play host to Hamilton Academical and Clyde as we look to navigate Group C as winners and progress to the knockout stage.
Saturday 15th July 2023 – Brechin City (A) – 3pm KO
Saturday 22nd July 2023 – Hamilton Academical (H) – 3pm KO
Tuesday 25th July 2023 – Cove Rangers (A) – 7.45pm KO
Saturday 29th July 2023 – Clyde (H) – 3pm KO
We also opened the 2021/22 season with a trip to Brechin in the very same stage, running out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Tom Parkes, Ayo Obileye and Jackson Longridge.
Hamilton Academical last visited West Lothian in March 2021 as goals from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Scott Pittman sealed a 2-1 league win.
Another trip to Cove awaits, just as it did last season when a last gasp Nicky Devlin strike meant the 10-man Lions came from behind to pick up a group win after Ayo Obileye cancelled out Iain Vigurs opener for the hosts with Isma Goncalves seeing red in the early stages.
It’s a bit longer since we last hosted The Bully Wee, having to go back to August 2015 since we last welcomed Clyde to the Tony Macaroni Arena. That one was also in the League Cup, prior to the introduction of the group stages where a Jordan White goal in extra-time seen the Lions progress after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
We’ll have all the ticket details for you as soon as agreed with each of the 4 clubs.
