Welcome Shaun Donnellan!
Livingston FC is delighted to announce the signing of Shaun Donnellan on a pre-contract agreement from English National League South side, Torquay United.
The Barnet-born player, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at U21 level, will join up with the Lions on the 1st January 2024 and will be available for our 2nd January clash with Heart of Midlothian.
The 27-year-old started his career with West Bromwich Albion where he enjoyed loan spells with Worcester City, Dagenham and Redbridge & Walsall. In 2018, he left WBA for Yeovil before moving to Woking, Maidenhead Utd and in 2022, Torquay United where he’s spent the last 18 months.
Shaun will wear the number 2 shirts and joins the Lions on a 2-and-a-half-year deal.
We’ll have an exclusive interview with Shaun when he joins up with his teammates in West Lothian at the turn of the year.
Men’s first-team Manager David Martindale said: “Shaun came on my radar in the Summer and I worked hard to bring him to the club but Torquay squashed my interest early doors.
“This November, Shaun was in a position to sign a pre-contract with ourselves and I’m delighted that he has chosen to do so.
“Everything was done with Torquay’s permission, and it has now developed that they are willing to let Shaun move on in January 2024 rather than waiting until the end of the season.
“Shaun is very versatile and can play a number of positions – right back, right wing-back, right centre back and defensive midfield.
“He will bring a lot of versatility to the squad and that should allow us to move 1 or 2 on in the defensive areas, while focusing our recruitment more in the offensive areas now that we know we have Shaun over the line.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Shaun and offer my thanks to Torquay for their willingness to help make this happen sooner.”
Welcome to Livingston, Shaun!
