This weekend, we are back on the road as we face Arbroath at Gayfield Park. Both teams are coming into this game off the back of wins. With 2 points separating the two sides, we will look to build on last weekend’s performance and get a positive result.

We are coming off a 2-0 win against Dunfermline Athletic. The visitors had two early shots, forcing Prior into action. The first goal came just before half-time when a neat pass found Van Hoeven, with some great play his shot curled in beautifully into the back of the net, an early goal of the season contender and got him off the mark. In the second half, the visitors were pushing for that equaliser, however, nothing was getting past Prior. The nerves were shaken off as in the 90th minute as Muirhead made sure all 3 points stayed in West Lothian, with a neat finish from a Stevie May cross. We have scored 12 goals and only conceded 2 in our last 5 games. We will look to keep that momentum from last week and give the travelling fans something to cheer about.

Arbroath is coming off a 2-1 away win against Greenock Morton. The visitors started very dominant and that paid off in the 20th minute, with Bonnar’s shot from outside the box giving the visitors the lead. However, in the second half Morton managed to get back into the game just a few minutes in with Dean Black’s shot finding the top corner. For most of the game it seemed a draw was looking likely, however, in the 93rd min O’Brien’s shot was buried into the net and Arbroath left with all 3 points. They have scored 3 in their last 5 matches and have conceded 5. Our hosts are also looking to put together some momentum and get those wins on the board.

The key players to look out for this match will be Jordan Doherty, who made it into SPFL’s Team of the Week with his brilliant performance last time out. The right back will certainly look to put in the same performance this week and continue his good form. Another one to look out for is Jerome Prior, who put in a Player of the Match performance against Dunfermline.

Would you believe this will be our 4th time ever meeting Arbroath this century? In the last 3 matches between the sides, including 2 friendlies and 1 League Cup game, we have won all 3, including a friendly match which we won 4-0 all the way back in July 2021. So, with the two sides playing each other for the first time in 5 years, it certainly looks like an interesting match.
