Clyde match preview
Only 3 months after lifting the Petrofac Cup thanks to a 4-0 win over Alloa at McDiarmid Park, we begin our defence of the trophy, welcoming Barry Ferguson and his Clyde players to the Energy Assets Arena today.
It’s been a Summer of change here at Livingston with a number of regular faces such as Keaghan Jacobs, Kyle Jacobs and Burton O’Brien moving on to pastures new. As with most close seasons though, manager Mark Burchill has been working hard to replace the outgoing bodies, bringing no fewer than 10 new players to Livingston.
Likewise though, Barry Ferguson has had a similar situation at Clyde with a host of players exiting Broadwood to be replaced with a batch of new faces. The incoming crop have certainly impressed the bookmakers who’ve made Clyde the early favourites to win League Two ahead of the big kick off on August 8th. A number of experienced Championship players have joined Ferguson with the likes of Scott Linton and Archie Campbell from Dumbarton and Sean Higgins from Cowdenbeath signing up. Likewise, Ferguson has also added the highly rated striker David Gormley from Auchinleck Talbot who many believe will thrive from the step back into the senior game and a four year stint in the Juniors.
All these changes will certainly make for an interesting game today with both sets of fans looking forward to seeing their team back in competitive action whilst trying to get to know the names of all the new faces.
The bookmakers have us down as home favourites for the match but many will take that with a pinch of salt as squads begin to gel and given the nature of the cup, upsets are always just around the corner.
Speaking of bookmakers, despite being the holders, Bet365 have us down as 7th favourites to retain the trophy at 25/1 behind the likes of Rangers (15/8) , Hibernian (5/1) and St Mirren (11/2). Today’s visitor Clyde are priced at 100/1 to go all the way and lift the trophy.
Admission prices today are as follows –

Concession £10.00
12-16 £ 8.00
