Danny Ventre appointed as Assistant Head Coach

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Ventre as the club’s new Assistant Head Coach, joining Glenn Whelan’s backroom team ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Danny arrives at Almondvale with a wealth of playing and coaching experience, having enjoyed a successful career both on the pitch and in the dugout.
As a player, the Liverpool-born midfielder made his name with Sligo Rovers, where he spent six-and-a-half years, captaining the club during one of the most successful periods in their history. During his time in Ireland, he won the League of Ireland Premier Division, three FAI Cups and a League of Ireland Cup, establishing himself as one of the league’s most respected midfielders. Prior to that, he began his senior career with Accrington Stanley, helping the club secure promotion to the Football League.
Following the transition into coaching, Danny has built an impressive CV within the professional game. He spent six years within the academy structure at Blackpool, progressing through several key roles before becoming Lead Professional Development Phase Coach, where he played an important part in developing the club’s emerging talent.
He then made the move into senior football with Bristol Rovers, serving as First-Team Coach, where he worked closely with the first-team staff in League One before continuing to further develop his coaching career.
Danny also joins the club with experience from his recent spell at Blackburn Rovers, where he worked as a first-team coach, adding another valuable dimension to an already strong coaching team.
Men’s first-team Head Coach Glenn Whelan said: “Having worked with Danny before, he’s someone I can trust and rely on. He’s come from Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, especially in defending and set plays.
“He will fit in well with the rest of the coaching staff and hopefully we can all complement each other to improve and reach our goals.”
Welcome to West Lothian, Danny!
