Dundee match preview
This weekend, we are back on the road as we face Dundee at Dens Park. This will be the first game in charge for Scott Arfield as interim manager. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives. We are coming off a 2-2 draw, and the hosts are coming off a 1-0 win. Last weekend’s results unfortunately confirmed our relegation to the Championship, however, we will still look to pick up points from the teams around us as they also try to avoid the play-off place and leave the Premiership on a high.
We are coming off a 2-2 draw against Aberdeen. The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute through Frame. However, the second half started more brightly for us, making 3 subs at half time, and it didn’t take us long to equalise through Nouble, following a second chance from a corner. Then an own goal from Finlayson in the 71st following a set piece gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. Just 7 minutes from coming on, Muirhead’s shot from outside the box made it 2-2 and gave us a chance to go and get all 3 points. However, chances missed from either side meat we shared the spoils and results elsewhere confirmed our relegation.
Dundee come into this one off the back of a 1-0 win against St Mirren. The hosts started better, getting an early goal in the 12th minute through Westley’s right-footed shot from the center of the box. Despite the visitors having more shots and possession, they couldn’t capitalise meaning Dundee left with all 3 points. Our hosts have only won 1 in their last 5 games, scoring 4 and conceding 8. The hosts themselves want to avoid that playoff place and a win will certainly do so.
The key players for this match will be Robbie Muirhead, who grabbed his 5th league goal last weekend. No matter if he’s starting or coming off the bench, his work rate to get us back into the game is second to none. This game will need his impact again. Another key player for this match will be Joel Nouble, whose goal last weekend helped us get back into the game and helped the team out in that forward line.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, it’s Dundee who have the upper hand, having won 3 of the 5 matches with 2 draws. The last game was a 2-2 draw back in February 2026. Our last win against our opponents was a 2-1 win back in May 2022 at home. So, we will be looking to repeat that over our hosts.
