Duo agree to stay
We are delighted to announce the contract extensions for Keaghan Jacobs and Gary Maley.
Manager David Hopkin said “I’m delighted at securing the 2 lads on for our forthcoming Championship season. Keaghan was very unlucky last season, just as he was getting back to full fitness he suffered another fracture in his leg. We did however manage to get him some game time near the end of the season and it was great to see him back in a Livingston FC shirt.
“Keags has signed on for the 2017/18 season with a clause in it that suits both parties with a view to a further year. That would take Keaghan into his testimonial year with the club and I’m sure I speak for every when I say it would be great to see him receive a testimonial game for everything he has given Livingston FC.
“There won’t be many players in this day and age who actually qualify for a testimonial at their club. Keaghan will and I’m delighted for the club and the player as it speaks volumes for both. On the playing front I’m gaining a very good player with Championship experience, I’m looking forward to seeing Keaghan get a pre-season under his belt and playing for Livingston FC in the Championship again.
“On Gary, I’m delighted he has signed on again as he provides great competition for the Goalkeeper shirt. He is a big physical presence who has played a lot of football at a decent level. Last season I can honestly say I thought he was outstanding when he was called upon and I will have no qualms in throwing him in again.
“Gary has signed up to push whatever Goalkeeper we do bring in, but I will give the big man some game time next season and he will help the young lads in the under 20’s games next season also. He had offers from lower league clubs to sign on with them aster number 1 but Gary wanted to carry on playing for Livingston FC and is repaying us for giving him a chance last season in League 1.
“Both players I’m extremely happy to have in my squad and it’s really taking shape. Again I must thank the board of directors in allowing me to get my players signed up early doors and backing me and my coaching staff.”
