Jamie Brandon to captain the Lions
We’re delighted to announce Jamie Brandon as our new, men’s first-team captain.
Jamie takes over the captaincy from last year’s skipper Michael Devlin, and will be assisted by Ryan McGowan who will be our vice-captain for the 2024/25 campaign.
The 26-year-old local lad, who started his early career at Rangers, joined the Lions from Hearts in 2022 following a loan spell with Greenock Morton, and has gone on to feature 50 times for the club since.
On being made captain, Jamie said: “When I was asked to be captain of the club, I was honoured. I’m really looking forward to stepping up to this role.
“I have learned from great captains throughout my years and I’m hoping that my knowledge can make an impact in leading this team.
“I believe that we have a hard working and skilled group of boys at Livingston, and I am hopeful that we can achieve something special this season.”
Men’s first-team manager David Martindale added: “I am delighted Jamie has accepted the position of captain.
“As a player and character he epitomises everything the club stands for. He comes into his work to be the best he can be every day, he leaves everything he has out on the park and he puts demands on his team mates during training and games.
“Jamie really stepped up as a person last season in a really difficult year and that was testament to Jamie as an individual. He showed true leadership values both on and off the park.
“He is a local lad and I know it’s a huge honour for him and I have no doubt he will lead this group on and off the park and do everything he can to win games of football. He will lead by example and that’s all I can ask for.
“Jamie will be assisted by Ryan McGowan who will really help Jamie throughout the season too. Jamie and Ryan were team mates at Hearts and between both players, I think there is a real balance that can only help Livingston FC moving forward.”
Good luck to both Jamie and Ryan in their roles for the season ahead!
