Lewis Smith Joins Aberdeen

We can confirm that Lewis Smith has joined Aberdeen on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.
Everyone at the club would like to thank Lewis for his outstanding contribution during his time in West Lothian and wish him every success as he takes the next step in his career.
Lewis arrived at the club from League One side Hamilton Academical and quickly established himself as a key member of the squad. His pace, energy and attacking quality played an important role in helping the club secure promotion back to the Scottish Premiership, producing a number of influential performances throughout a memorable campaign.
Among his many memorable moments in a Livingston shirt, none stand out more than his vital goal away to Ross County in the second leg of the Premiership play-off final. Trailing 2-0 on the day, Lewis’ strike brought us back into the contest just before half-time and laid the foundations for the second half comeback, sealing promotion back to the top flight.
Despite a challenging campaign in the Premiership last season, Lewis remained one of our brightest performers, consistently providing energy, creativity and a threat in the final third. His performances earned him the opportunity to make this move, and everyone at Livingston is delighted to see him take it.
Sporting Director David Martindale said: “We’ve had a busy transfer window, which is very encouraging from a player trading point of view.
“There has been significant investment in our player recruitment and trading department, and it’s important that, as a club, we are always active in terms of player development. Hopefully that leads to success on the pitch and successful player trading, which is now one of the key fundamentals in place at the club.
“We signed Lewis on a pre-contract when he was with Hamilton in League One, and that’s a strategy we’d obviously like to continue going forward.
“There have been a number of players moving from Scottish clubs to bigger clubs in Scotland during this transfer window, and that can only be a positive for our game as a whole.
“We’re in a good place at the moment and, subject to a Governing Body Endorsement, we’ll be announcing Smithy’s replacement very soon. He was identified early on in anticipation that Lewis could move.
“I’d like to thank Aberdeen for the way they conducted this transfer, and it goes without saying that we wish Lewis all the very best for the future.”
Thank you for everything, Lewis. Everyone here at Livingston Football Club wishes you the very best of luck for the future.
