Livingston 0-1 Ross County
It was a second frustrating afternoon in a row for the Lions, as a 73rd minute Owura Edwards goal saw the three points head back to Dingwall.
Whilst there may have been goal trouble before the game, Livingston certainly didn’t do enough to trouble it during the 90 minutes.
Going into this one Livingston were unbeaten in nine against the Staggies, and it looked like it was going to be a good showing from the Lions. They spent much of the afternoon camped in the County half however, despite a dominant display, they couldn’t convert this dominance into clear cut chances.
The first and best chance of the first half did fall Livingston’s way however.
Dylan Bahamboula did well to drive into the box on the left hand-side, his pass found Cristian Montaño who drilled the ball across the box. Kurtis Guthrie did well to get ahead of his defender, and really should have found the target from the edge of the six yard box.
At the other end, Owura had County’s only chance of the first half. He looked dangerous as he ran at the Livingston defence, but his effort was well wide.
Livingston kept pushing and Joel Nouble’s quick feet would see him get an effort off from a difficult angle but, like Guthrie, he couldn’t find the target.
Into the second half and Livingston were once again left rueing a good chance. Sean Kelly’s corner found Ayo Obileye unmarked at the back post and, after a scuffed first attempt, with the goal gaping he couldn’t beat Ross Laidlaw.
The deadlock would be broken five minutes later. Laidlaw’s long ball wasn’t dealt with by Kelly in the Livi defence. Jordy Hiwula was allowed to cut inside and get his shot off. Hiwula could only find the bar, but Edwards was on hand to nod the ball home.
The Lions continued pressing for an equaliser, to give some sort of reward for their dominance. Obileye would again force a good save from Laidlaw as full time drew nearer, but it wasn’t to be.
Livingston’s dominance was clear but, despite 22 shots at goal, only three were on target, and Laidlaw’s goal was left relatively untroubled.
Defeat sees Livingston sit eighth in the table.
