The first home league fixture of the season was unfortunately marked by defeat. Both teams traded blows for most of the game, with crosses being a regular occurrence into both boxes throughout the duration of the match.

The visitors took the lead early in the first half through Rebecca Simpson, with a goal from a corner showing the crosses could pay off.

Following this, the Lionesses had a large spell of possession for the next fifteen minutes, hammering the ball forward, with the phase of play being drawn to a close by Gill stinging the palms of the away goalkeeper.

The visitors went into the half with the lead, but Jemma McQuillan doubled it just shy of the 60th minute, much to the dismay of the home side, who came into the second half with a continuation of the attacking prowess shown after the first goal.

A double change came about shortly after, with Moran and Brown replacing Daly and Whiteford.

In the final few minutes, Canavan thundered a shot off the inside of the post from 18 yards, with the rebound being scrambled clear.

An unfortunate start to the home league season, but we move to the next game.
