Livingston 2-1 Alloa Athletic
Livingston kicked off their preseason encounters with a home win over Alloa, with the Trialist family playing a large part in David Martindale’s experimental side.
As is typical of preseason encounters this was a chance for both managers to blood new signings and try out a few potential new recruits. Indeed the Lions’ line-up contained no fewer that 9 trialists as the Gaffer began the process of perfecting his blend for the coming season.
The first half was a fairly uneventful period, with neither side gaining the upper hand or offering any kind of threat as the players found their feet in the new surroundings.
But just after the restart new signing Matthew Clarke found himself free at the back post to tap home the opener, as well as chalk up his first goal in Livingston colours.
After a flurry of substitutes, Stephen Kelly put Livi 2-0 up with a drive from 18 yards, only to see Luke Rankin pull one back for the Wasps 2 minutes later.
With the exception of Livi hitting the post, there was little further action as this experimental encounter petered out.
Next up at the Home of the Set Fare Arena is local Lowland League side Broxburn Athletic on Tuesday night.
