Livingston 2-1 Broxburn Athletic
It was another win for Livi this evening as the preseason got into full swing.
There was a real local feel to this game, notwithstanding a certain family connection between skipper for the night Scott Pittman and his dad Steve, Broxburn’s manager.
As expected, there were trialists aplenty on the Lions’ side, a whopping 12 of them to be exact, as Davie Martindale continued with his player alchemy ahead of the regular campaign.
Stephen Kelly was the first to try his luck as Livingston controlled the early stages. But his effort flew high over the bar. 10 minutes later it was Pittman’s turn, but his header from a superb Clarke cross just failed to find its mark.
The trialists then took centre stage with one delivering a curling shot from distance which Broxburn keeper Jordan Pettigrew held well. But moments later another curling effort from one of the trialists found the top corner to give Livi the lead.
But despite more pressure from the hosts, Broxburn drew level just on the stroke of half time with a powerful header from Gary Brass.
The expected flurry of changes at the interval saw both lineups change, but 2 minutes after the restart Stephen Kelly netted his second goal in 2 games with a low drive into the bottom corner.
More changes then took place, and Kelly almost bagged a brace only to be denied by a goal line clearance from Albion’s Marky Munro. But there were to be no further goals as the Lions made it 2 from 2.
