Livingston WFC 3-0 Ayr United WFC
Livingston made it back to back wins as they defeated Ayr United 3-0 at the Home of the Set Fare Arena. Goals from Mia McArthur, Ashley Elizabeth and Lauren Evans sealed the three points for the Lionesses in a challenging home fixture.
The away side had the better of the chances throughout the first half and should have taken the lead inside two minutes. The Ayr forward Baird did well to create a one on one opportunity and with the goal at her mercy, fired wide of the target. Docherty was also on hand on a few occasions but a Player of the Match performance from Rachel Pirie kept the visitors at bay.
Livingston did take the lead in unusual manner, with loanee Mia McArthur scoring her first goal of the club. The wingers corner evaded everyone and found the back of the net, giving Livi the lead against the run of play.
The second half saw Livingston step things up, with Ashley Elizabeth doing well to create opportunities for herself. The forward was awarded for her efforts as she cut out a goal kick before emphatically firing into the bottom corner to double Livi’s lead.
Lauren Evans has been enjoying a rich run of form this season and added to her tally with Livingston’s third goal. Good build up play saw captain for the day Evans fire home for her fourth goal of the season.
Livi saw the game out in the end and secured a good three points with a clean sheet to boost. They face off again against Ayr United this weekend in cup action, this time away from home.
