An even first 15 as seems to be the norm with both teams settling into the game with a few attempts forward a piece, a few crosses for good measure too.

Queen’s Park went down to 10 in the 16th minute due to a player being checked for injury, but this didn’t stop them drawing first blood in the tie, though, as I have to admit a sublime Rebecca McAllister strike from 25 yards out found the top right-hand corner, giving the visitors the lead within the first 20 minutes.

A freekick from close range came not long after, with Megan Whiteford stepping up but the wall does what it’s there for.

The first booking came for Queen’s Park as Jaya Gill was sliced down in the wide left area of the opposition half, the resulting freekick was cleared by the defence.

We went in one down at the half. Still plenty football to be played.

Halftime saw Brown, Whiteford and Daly come off, being replaced by Strain, Honeyman and Mason.

Super sub Louise Mason drew the sides level at 54 minutes after having a fantastic spell since being subbed on at the half. With more brilliant play not long after, linking up with Honeyman to ask questions of the Queen’s Park number 1. The subs really putting in the hard yards in the first period of the second half.

We get a penalty in the 60th minute after a foul in the area. Honeyman steps up but the keeper is equal to it, getting down to her left to make the save. Queen’s Park got the ball back and immediately broke up the other end, drawing a great save from Alex Reid. The resulting corner would be the end of the move as the freekick to Livingston settles the game down.

The resulting free kick taken by Louise Mason produced a quite frankly beautiful glancing header from Kaitlyn Canavan and putting us a goal to the good in the 73rd.

A 4th sub of the game for the Lionesses saw Katie Frew replaced by Elise McCormack, looking to lock down the game in the final 15 minutes.

A first Livingston booking came for Louise Mason after some holding in the middle of the park.

A string of fouls in the final 5 minutes saw another booking go against Queen’s Park.

With the last action of the game, Vivienne Strain intercepts a loose pass across the Queen’s Park 18 yard box and puts the final nail in the coffin, and securing our progression to the next round of this seasons edition of the Sky Sports Cup.

The substitutes played a vital role this evening, with a goal from Vivienne Strain and a goal and assist from Louise Mason, who has my vote for player of the match, if I had any sway in that decision that is.
