NHS Lothian’s Summer of Football campaign continues to bolster COVID jab programme
NHS Lothian’s Summer of Football campaign, which brings the COVID-19 vaccination programme into the hearts of Lothian communities is continuing to bolster the COVID jab programme, as a further two pop-up clinics are confirmed.
The first will take place on Wednesday (21 July) at Livingston FC’s Tony Macaroni Arena ahead of their game against Raith Rovers, with the second taking place on Thursday (22 July) at Hibernian’s Easter Road stadium ahead of their match with FC Santa Coloma.
Pat Wynne, Director of Community Nursing, NHS Lothian, said: “We have already had two very successful pop-up clinics taking place ahead of football fixtures, which welcomed both football fans and members of the community alike.
“I am delighted that we are able to offer these additional pop-up clinics at Livingston and Hibernian football clubs and look forward to welcoming as many people as possible as they receive their life-saving jab.”
All over-18s are encouraged to attend the pop-up clinics, where they can receive their first or second dose (provided they received the first dose more than eight weeks ago) of the vaccine.
Pfizer second dose vaccinations are not available at the pop-up clinics. This is due to the way Pfizer needs to stored and handled. Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine are still available at all mass vaccination clinics.
Club Secretary Derek White said, “We are delighted to welcome NHS Lothian’s vaccination team to the stadium ahead of our game against Raith Rovers. The COVID vaccine is so important and we urge not just our own supporters, but the wider community to pop along to the drop-in clinic for either their first or second dose of the vaccine.”
Pat Wynne added, “Whether you going to the football match or taking a quick break from work, we are making it as easy as possible to come forward for vaccination.
“While these units are being put in place to primarily target football fans, they are also community resources and I would encourage anyone in the local areas to come and visit the clinics and get their vaccine.”
The clinics will be available –
Livingston FC – Wednesday 21 July, 2pm-6.30pm AND Saturday 24 July, 11am-3pm
Hibernian FC – Thursday 22 July, 3pm-7.45pm
No appointment necessary.
