St John’s Hospital Christmas Visit
Some of our men’s, first-team players helped spread the Christmas cheer last week with a visit to St John’s Hospital.
The players spent time with patients and parents in the hospital’s children’s ward as well as handing out some Christmas gifts whilst posing for photos and signing autographs too.
Captain Michael Devlin, Jamie Brandon and James Penrice were amongst 10 of the first-team players who popped in to visit the kids.
CEO Dave Black, said: “We were delighted to get back along to St John’s to visit the Children’s Ward and hand out some gifts to the kids who are currently in hospital.
“Covid had stopped that for a while but it was always an element of the year that we looked forward to – seeing the reactions of the kids getting to meet and speak with footballers.
“I think we all forget at times the impact players can have on these kids simply by showing an interest and giving up some of their time.
“It’s never nice for kids to have to spend time in hospital, particularly so at this time of year, so it was great to help put some smiles on faces and the players really enjoyed meeting the patients, parents and staff at the hospital.”
