Stenhousemuir match preview
This weekend, we are back on the road as we face Stenhousemuir at the Ochilview. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives. We are coming off a 1-0 win, and the hosts are coming off a 1-0 loss. We look to continue the positive momentum and get a positive result away from home.
We are coming off a 1-0 home win against Arbroath. It looked like the points were going to be shared, then in the 90th minute the visitors were reduced to 10 men after McKenna received a second yellow. From the resulting free kick, it was the captain Ryan McGowan who bundled his shot in. A last-gasp winner meant we left with all 3 points which we hope will be the kickstart to a positive run.
Stenhousemuir is coming off a 1-0 midweek loss at home to Dunfermline Athletic. The game was pretty even between both sides, with various chances but failed to capitalise. However, in the later stages of the second half, it was the Dunfermline who took the lead in the 79th minute through MacLeod’s shot from outside the box. Stenhousemuir have scored 2 in their last 5 matches and have conceded 6 goals. Despite starting the season well, they’ve seemed to have dropped off in recent weeks so we will look to cause more problems for them.
The key players to look out for this match will be our captain Ryan McGowan, who didn’t just score last minute to get us the win last weekend, but also won the Player of the Match for his excellent defensive displays. That is going to be needed this time out even though the hosts have not been scoring a lot but he will still have to be called upon when needed. Another one to look out for is Tyrese Sinclair who created some chances last weekend. His pace down the wing will be needed to get behind a back line that seems to be shifting more goals recently so using his pace and creativity will be crucial to opening up the opposition.
In our last 5 games against the opponents, it’s us who have the upper hand, winning 3 and losing 2. Last time out against the hosts was a 1-0 loss back in September 2026. Our last win against them was a 3-1 win back in Jan 2023 which we will be hoping for a repeat of on Friday.
